Known as the Crossroads of the West, the Salt Lake City is the most populous city in the State of Utah in United States. With a population of 181,698 according to the July 2008 census, Salt Lake City is also the 126th largest city in the United States.

The City of Salt Lake was established by Brigham Young, the first governor of Utah Territory, and his group of Mormon pioneers in the year 1847. The initial economic development was brought about by the construction of the first transcontinental railroad and the mining industry. Today Salt Lake City is popularly know for its tourism industry and is a famous for its ski resorts and hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic. It is also the industrial banking center of Unites States.

The city is well laid on a grid plan having its origin at the southeast corner of the Temple Square, a ten acre complex located in the center of the city. Most of the streets almost run north-south and east-west and is considered easy for navigation. There is a distinct differentiation in the property rates in the eastern and the western portion of the city. The properties in the eastern part have a higher value than their western counterpart mainly because of the railroad being built in the western side of the city and the scenic views that highlight the eastern portion.
